J’ai rassemblé ces 4 séries de photos de l’évènement Interaction proposé par K5600 Lighting, Transvideo et Little Grand Studio à Paris. L’idée de Marc Galerne était de faciliter des rencontres et discussions de gens de l’image autour du matériel lumière et monitoring. L’expérience est réussie ! Les photos sont de Jacques Delacoux, Jean-Noël Ferragut, Samuel Renollet et moi.

Sony PXW-Z100 4K camcorder features:

- 20x zoom lens
- 1/2.3 inch sensor
- 422 10-bit 4K (4096×2160) or UHD
- 50 or 60P
- up to 600 Mbps (at 60P)
- XAVC format (like the F55)
- XQD cards
- $6500
- will also do HD

I should mention that the 20x zoom range is very impressive.
I look forward to shooting some footage with this camera.

The SD slot hints at the un-announced possibility of recording HD video for editing simultaneously with the 4K stream.

The Z100 will record 4K on to XQD high-speed cards. These 64GB are rated at 180 MBytes/second.

The Amira features include:

- up to 444 HD or 2K quality
- recording in Rec709 Log-C or preloaded 3D LUTs
- option for 50i & 59.94i interlaced frame rates
- the capacity to go up to 200 fps
- a new combo viewfinder & LCD
- assignable buttons
- 4 channels of 24-bit 48k Hz audio
- 2 XLR audio inputs, option for phantom power

The Amira does not offer ArriRaw or 4×3 sensor for anamorphic.

The real question for a documentarian today is whether to shoot 4K or 2K. The battle lines are drawn between Sony and Arri.

Sony’s new F5 and F55 share the same body with slightly different functions and have very competitive pricing.

The Sony F55 and F5 both have:
- Super 35 4K CMOS sensor
- PL mount with PL/FZ adaptor
- A range of codecs:
MPEG2 422 8-bit, XAVC 422 10-bit, SR 444/422 10-bit
- 120P high-speed

The F55 also has:
- Global shutter
- Simultaneous recording of XAVC and Mpeg on SxS cards
- Up to 180P high-speed

Both cameras can also be fitted with a small RAW recorder that can capture 2K or 4K 16-bit lin files. This high-quality capability is very promising indeed. With a camera body under $30K, the F55′s pricing is well below the Arri Alexa, and slightly higher than an Epic. Of course you need to add pricy accessories to get a working system

The left side of the F5 camera with the menu screen, and on the right the R5 RAW recorder. The camera enables recording with S-Log gamma curves. The sensitivity is set to 1600 ISO. XAVC is a new codec that delivers 10-bit 422.

The AXS-R5 RAW recorder for the F5 and F55. The lightweight unit will record 2 or 4K 16-bit lin files on to new AXS memory cards. It can record up to 60P in 4K and 240P in 2K.

- SxS internal memory to record files in several codecs including the new XAVC 422 10-bit codec

Above the memory are 2 playback units shown in Paris with USB 3 connectors, which may be a little slow for 16-bit 4K files…
